Description and Duties:

Welcome to Delta Career Education Corporation!

The following description is quite detailed. Our intention is to provide insight into the opportunity so that you can make a well-informed choice.

We have three campuses in Georgia with current openings on our Admissions Team:  Columbus, Augusta, and Macon.

Opportunity Snapshot:

If you combine exceptional relationship-building abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and a desire to take your sales career to the next level, this position offers you the opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of our students as you help them get started in a new career and change the direction of their lives.  As Admissions Representative, you will play an integral role in the recruitment and enrollment of potential students as you make outbound calls, get to know each student, match them with the appropriate curriculum/program for their specific educational goals, and then guide them through the enrollment, financial aid and other key processes.  We’re looking for a driven, self-motivated professional with an energetic personality, team-player mentality and consultative sales approach. Delta Career Education Corporation is an industry leader and we are growing -- your success in this role could set you up to pursue a variety of career paths in our organization.  If you are ready to start a long term career and help students change their futures and their lives, we look forward to hearing from you.

The Requirements:

This is an entry level position, and the ideal candidate for this role will have some consultative sales experience, but we will also consider outgoing and energetic professionals with limited experience who are articulate on the phone and well-versed at building relationships.  To be a good fit for this opportunity you should have:

  • An associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in sales or business development.  Experience in telemarketing, the non-profit sector, and/or consultative sales could all be a great fit.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a good phone presence.
  • The ability to work independently and in a group setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Familiarity with a CRM system is preferred.
  • Use of a personal vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
  • Experience with College Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, Education and Career Placement departments is also a plus.

In addition, you should have the following core characteristics and competencies:

  • An approachable, up beat and outgoing personality.
  • A self-starter mentality.
  • Flexibility and excellent multi-tasking skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workloads effectively and efficiently.

The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, you will join a team of seven Admissions Representatives.  As Admissions Representative, your mission will be to actively support and contribute to the recruitment and enrollment of new students from all sources—including high schools, alternative schools, adult basic education centers, the general public, etc. In essence, the role is two-fold and your key initiatives will be to support recruiting and enrollment activities, and interview and build relationships with prospective students.  You will work to uncover the needs of each student, determining how their educational aspirations fit into the programs we have.  You’ll work through various obstacles and employ a consultative approach to your interactions.

The majority of your work will be conducted via phone, and you can expect to make approximately 100-120 outbound calls a day.  You’ll balance your call load by also collecting leads from the website and referrals as well. Additionally, you’ll need to be an active participant in proactively uncovering leads autonomously by attending student recruitment fairs, networking events, career fairs and more.  This is a hands-on role where you will work with potential students throughout the entire process—from the initial phone call to ensuring they are filling out the required forms and paperwork needed to enroll in the program and qualify for financial aid.

Specifically, you will:

  • Conduct campus tours to showcase the campus’ offerings and introduce students to school administrators, faculty and students.
  • Consult with prospective students on the benefits of Delta Education’s programs and services.
  • Ensure prospective students complete all required enrollment forms (e.g., Enrollment Agreement, Application for Admissions, Transcript Request, Health, Financial Aid, etc.).
  • Assist with and attend orientation of new students to ensure a positive start to their educational experience with Delta Education.
  • Pursue qualified candidates for enrollment to determine fit with Delta Education based on career goal compatibility.
  • Schedule and conduct interviews (in person and via phone) with qualified applicants to educate applicants on campus offerings and programs.
  • Accurately and completely explain educational programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial considerations to students, parents, and educators.
  • Conduct follow-up meetings with all applicants to ensure on-going interest and successful enrollment.
  • You will also need to be willing and able to work some evenings and every other Saturday as needed. Saturday shifts are typically from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Why Delta:

High-level impact -- in addition to the satisfaction that comes with knowing that your work is making a positive impact in the lives of our students, you will also enjoy visibility throughout the organization.  We are a company that is much larger than just one campus. You’ll gain nationwide recognition for your successful performance.  In fact, prove yourself a star, and you could move on to a leadership role or pursue a position at one of our other campus locations.

Professional development -- we promote a culture of learning and have an engaged and interactive team that truly enjoys the work. We make a strong investment in training initially and ongoing, so you will have plenty of opportunities to further develop your skill-set.  Your manager will empower you to "own" the role as if this was your own business.  She will provide you with the resources and support you need, and as long as you are meeting your call goals you'll have the freedom and autonomy to succeed independently.

Work with top talent -- as an educational services company we believe in staying at the cutting-edge of our industry.  Our most successful people have a passion for helping others meet their goals and demonstrate a deep desire to match our prospective students with the right programs.  Our leadership team has impeccable credentials and you’ll have the opportunity to leverage their deep industry knowledge and expertise.

Stability and growth – we’ve been in business for over 15 years and since our founding, we’ve continued to grow. As an Admissions Representative, you’ll play a key role in driving Delta’s ongoing growth and expansion.

Great environment and team -- we promote a collaborative, team-focused environment where everyone works together towards the same goal of providing outstanding customer service to all Delta Education constituencies including inquiring students, families, guidance counselors and teachers.  You’ll find that our Admissions team is a close-knit group and lead sharing is common.  If another Rep comes across a lead that may be a better fit for one of your curriculum paths, you can expect them to pass the prospective student over to you.

Strong mission -- our commitment to providing best in class educational programs across a wide array of industries and practice areas has helped solidify Delta as an industry leader.  We also partner with employers throughout the nation as part of a program to help our students find jobs upon graduation.  We are dedicated to changing futures and changing lives.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, a 401(k) plan and more.

Keys to Success:

To excel in the role of Admissions Representative you’ll need to be great at uncovering the needs of our potential students, creating strong relationships, and working in a collaborative environment.  This is consultative selling, so you’ll need to be able to build trust and educate prospective students on our programs and the value they can bring to their lives.  On the flip-side, you’ll also need to be comfortable hearing “no” and have the strong work ethic needed to continue hitting the phones despite a setback.

We’re looking for someone who is a coach and a team player.  You should be willing to roll up your sleeves, get down into the weeds, understand the fine details about our programs and guide your students from the initial phone call and campus tour through the final enrollment process.  Flexibility, drive, and the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously will be important factors for success in this role.

Our ideal candidate is looking to build a career and to stay with us for the long term.  This is an entry level role, and your success here will open up many other opportunities throughout our growing company, and your success here is only limited by your desire and drive.  If you are great at building strong relationships, you enjoy helping build student success, and you’re looking for a home with a growing company, then we want to hear from you!
